Earthquake, magnitude 5.6, hits northern Pakistan-October 12

SAN FRANCISCO, Oct 12 (Reuters) - A 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit Pakistan on Wednesday, 85 miles (135 km) north of Islamabad, according to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake, which occurred at 1:23 a.m. local time on Thursday, is the latest in a series of aftershocks in the four days after a devastating earthquake in the region that is estimated to have killed more than 40,000 people.
